Mountains have taught me many things: humility, the importance of warm pants, and why confidence doesn’t always equal skill. From tumbling like a human snowball at 17 to discovering snowshoes won’t save you from altitude sickness in middle age, I’ve learned the hard way that I’m better suited to sea level.
